New generator installed

The next step of renovation has been successfully finalized. This weekend we installed a new generator ONAN 11kVA. On Friday, 13th, despite of the superstitions, we proceeded with the operation of pulling on board and installing the new generator. As for January the weather was nothing more we could dream of - the sun shining through the clouds, few degrees above 0 Celsius, lack of rain or snow, if not only 10 from North one might have said it was an idyll. The generator was waiting for us since Thursday, the old Perkins had been dismantled earlier and prepared to leave the yacht. Sounds easy, however the weight of generator is approx 300 kg and one needs to pull it up on the deck which is good few meters above ground level. There was an idea to use a local crane but we decided to use our own resources instead. Sailors are recourceful people and all of us learned at school about simple machines therefore after 2-hour physical and intellectual effort all parts of the old generator landed safely on the ground and the new generator was lifted to the deck. To move it inside we needed to dismantle the cover and after another two hours the generator was in the mess. All we needed to do then was the base modification and... the day was over. The world outside was invisible in the snow storm. The weather was kind enough to wait until we were done. We left for Saturday placing the generator on the base and putting together an assembly. In the morning there was a surprise - we needed waders to get to the yacht. An eddy caused the water level move up and it was above quayside level. Feeling like working on Noah's Ark we put together the assembly, finished distributing wires and another day was over and we needed to be going back to Kraków.
Boatbuilder works are in progress, berths are being made, new wires on place.
