Lofoten, an archipelago of seven islands located in the Norwegian Sea, 300 km north of the Arctic Circle, in 2006 was ranked by National Geographic as a third  most beautiful islands in the world.
Lofoten's for centuries a cod fishing center, occupies 1227 km² and is inhabited by approximately 24,500 residents. The largest city is Svolvær (about 5 thousand inhabitants) on the island of Austvågøy.
Despite the location above the polar circle, there is an exceptionally mild climate due to the warm Gulf Stream.
In addition to the breathtaking landscapes, characteristic of the Lofoten are a robuers a traditional fisherman's huts painted red by cod-liver oil dye.
The traditional source of residents ubsistence is fisheries, fish processing, agriculture and tourism.

Our adventure with the Lofoten will start in Bodø, a fifty thousand citizens fast growing city located in the background of the Børvasstindan mountain chain.
Bodø is the capital of White-tailed Eagles, nowhere in the world is there a greater concentration of these majestic birds than here.
Quite close to  Bodø we can see the Saltstraumen - the world's strongest tidal current. During the spring tides in the 150 m wide pass between the Saltenfjord and the Skjerstadfjord, the current reaches 20 knots, creating an amazing twirl of 12 meters in diameter.

During our 10 day cruise we plan to visit several places as

Reine, surrounded by a mountain chain, is a settlement on several islands connected by bridges. Panorama from the top of Reinebringen is second to none. Such mountains will not be found anywhere else in the world.

Nusfjord,  small village located in a narrow fjord, completelyisolated by mountains from the center of the island . Thanks to its isolation, it is on e of the best preserved, authentic fishing villages (fiskevær) in Norway.

Henningsvær is the most charming village in Lofoten called the "Venice of the North". In the 19th century it became one of the most prominent fishing villages in Lofoten.
Situated on two islands with a rocky dike, the village was bridged with other islands only in 1981, which allowed the inhabitants to protect themselves from external architectural influences and preserve its original character.

Trollfjorden  famous for its ubelievable scenic fjord on Austvågøy Island. Long about 3 km fjord is in the narrowest place only 70 m wide

Narvik - very young town, built only in 1902 as a transshipment port for the transport of iron ore from the Swedish mine in Kiruna. City associated with our history. At the Battle of Narvik, the Independent Podhale Rifle Brigade under the command of General Z.Szyszko-Bohusz took part. In the sea battles in the region of the city participated Polish destroyers, "Blyskawica" and "Storm" and sunk in Rombakkenfjord ORP "Grom"

Andenes - the village of  is the northernmost settlement of the island of Andøya is famous of Orcas safaries. We hope to watch these see predators from the Naschachata board.

We hope to visit many many other scenic spots on the way to Tromsø, an "Arctic Gateway", the starting point of many polar expeditions, including the most famous Roald Amundsen, Umberto Nobile and Fridtjof Nansen.
